Our Mission:

Bridge to Equity and Achievement in Music

Creating a region‐wide collective for supporting and sustaining musical excellence among young musicians of underrepresented populations who aspire to careers in the classical music professions.

Who is eligible?

BEAM is open by audition to students in 6th to 12th grade in Fall 2019, who reside in the Greater Boston Area and identify as belonging to demographic groups historically underrepresented in classical music professions. Students must play violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, french horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, harp or percussion to be eligible to participate in BEAM.

The Program

Once admitted to BEAM, students are assigned to a host organization and can complete their core program activities (such as private lessons and orchestra) at any of the BEAM organizations. All Beam students receive key mentorship from the BEAM Program Manager as well as designated Student Advocates at each partner organization. Each student will receive an individualized performance learning plan designated to help them on their path toward musical achievement.
